💬 Wholesale Dealer Model

The Good Car Co is licensed as a wholesale auto dealer, not a retail dealer. Under California law, that means we sell vehicles to other licensed dealers and at dealer auctions — we are not licensed to sell a vehicle directly to a member of the public. This keeps our overhead low and lets us focus on sourcing and reconditioning good vehicles at fair prices. It doesn't mean retail buyers are shut out — see "For Retail Buyers" below for how that works.

Our Process

From sourcing to sale - here's how we deliver quality vehicles

1

Source

We find vehicles at dealer auctions, trade-ins, and private sales. We focus on reliable makes with good history.

2

Inspect

Every vehicle gets a thorough inspection. We identify what needs to be fixed and what can be left alone.

3

Recondition

We fix safety and reliability issues first. Then we address cosmetics that affect value.

4

Price

We price competitively based on wholesale market values, not inflated retail numbers.

5

Sell

Licensed dealers buy direct from us. Retail buyers purchase through one of our licensed partner dealers or brokers.

6

Support

We stand behind our vehicles. Questions or concerns? We're here to help.

For Retail Buyers

As a wholesale dealer, California law doesn't allow us to sell a vehicle directly to you. But that doesn't mean the door is closed — if you're an individual looking to buy a car, we partner with licensed retail dealers and auto brokers who purchase the vehicle from us and handle your actual sale. Here's how that works:

  1. Browse our inventory online or tell us what you're looking for
  2. We find the vehicle and recondition it to our standards
  3. You inspect and test drive the vehicle
  4. The sale is completed through one of our licensed retail dealer or broker partners — not directly with The Good Car Co
  5. They handle all DMV paperwork, registration, title transfer, and any state-required retail disclosures
  6. You drive home with your car!

Why this model? Wholesale and retail dealer licenses are separate under California law, and a wholesale dealer can't legally sell straight to the public. Routing the sale through a licensed retail dealer or broker means every transaction is handled by someone properly licensed for it, so you still get full legal protections, title work, and paperwork done right — while we focus on sourcing and reconditioning good vehicles at wholesale prices.
